About Me

Anita R. Gooding, PhD, MSW, LCSW

Welcome to Soul Shift Consulting. My name is Anita and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and seasoned educator. My practice experience spans micro and macro levels of practice and includes: community outreach and organizing, HIV/AIDS treatment education, outpatient therapy, healthcare social work, and higher education administration as a BSW Practicum Director.

As a researcher I have studied and published on the subjugated knowledges of historically marginalized groups, race and use of self, equity and inclusion within social work education, and queer(ed) space.

My core values are grounded in the belief that consciousness raising, mindful engagement, and critical reflection are essential for personal and collective liberation. To achieve these goals my workshops include activities, case studies and opportunities to learn through play.

I believe that practicum is an invaluable learning space for social work students and agency instructors play a significant role in a student’s personal and professional development. These workshops are catered for social work programs and practicum supervisors.
